Stretch Recognized As Finalist By EDN Magazine In Its 15th Annual Innovation of the Year Awards Competition
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., February 9, 2005 — Stretch Inc., a pioneer and leader in software-configurable devices, has been selected from a field of hundreds as a finalist for this year's EDN Innovator/Innovation Awards. Instituted in 1990, the Innovation Awards honor the people, products and technologies that have shaped the semiconductor industry over the past year.
Stretch's S5610 software-configurable processor has been nominated for the "Processor" category. Nominees within this category must have demonstrated innovation that resulted in significant advance in technology and/or product development during the past 12 months. As reported in April 2004, the S5610 achieved the highest score in the Telecomm benchmark suite from the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC®). Beating the most powerful general-purpose processors (GPPs) and DSPs, the Stretch S5610 received an optimized score of 2.924 Telemarks™ per Megahertz, which translates into a score of 877 Telemarks in a 300-MHz simulation. Test results were certified by the EEMBC Certification Labs. The S5610 is suitable for telecom, networking, military, and security applications.
"We are very proud to have received this honor and acknowledgement from the technical editors at EDN. As a startup, this recognition of our very first product is extremely gratifying," said Albert Wang, CTO & Co-Founder of Stretch.
EDN's readers will use an online ballot to select the ultimate winners from among the finalists. EDN's editorial staff and EDN Editorial Advisory Board also take part in determining the final winners. Readers are encouraged to visit www.edn.com to review each of the nominees. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony on March 7th at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco.
