Stretch Announces S5620 Software-Configurable Processor and S56DVK20 Development Platform Suited for Power PC-based Processors
New Device Expands Market Reach of S5000 Processor Family for Compute-Intensive Applications
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 7, 2005 - Stretch Inc., a pioneer and leader in software-configurable processor devices, today announced the availability of the S5620 software-configurable processor and the S56DVK20 Development Platform, the latest additions to the Stretch S5000 family. Based on Stretch's revolutionary S5 engine, the S5620 offers excellent performance enhancements to systems using PowerPC-based processors. The S56DVK20 Development Platform provides a flexible, comprehensive system development solution in applications where time-to-performance is critical such as high-end imaging and networking.
"With the introduction of the S5620 processor and S56DVK20 platform, Stretch continues to revolutionize the embedded marketplace with its C-based software acceleration architecture and design methodology," said Reynette Au, vice president of marketing at Stretch. "We continually strive to meet customer needs and are proud to offer both the S56DVK10 development platform for MIPS-based processors and the S56DVK20 platform for Power-PC processors. Both solutions provide the most flexible, scalable and easiest-to-use platforms to address the continued performance and time-to-market challenges that are the results of ever changing system requirements."
The S5620 processor integrates a 300MHz, 32-bit Xtensa core with integrated programmable logic, interface to IBM® PowerPC® processors, embedded memory, and a comprehensive set of peripherals to deliver a complete intelligent system processing solution.
The full-featured S56DVK20 platform combines the S5620 software-configurable processor with the IBM® Power PC® 750GX processor to deliver unprecedented performance achieved by off-loading computational functions from the general-purpose processor. The complete C-based acceleration platform allows designers to develop compute-intensive embedded applications. The S56DVK20 is equipped with support for various memories (DDR SDRAM, SRAM, Flash, and serial EEPROMs) and interfaces to the S5620's integrated peripherals such as the 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports, PCI-X/PCI, TDM & HDLC, UART, SPI, and TWI and also runs on Linux 2.4.
