Stretch Inc. Announces Opening of Japan Subsidiary

Also Announces the First Public Product Demonstrations of its Software-Configurable Processors, at ESEC in Tokyo, July 7-9

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 5, 2004 (TOKYO, July 6, 2004) — Stretch Inc., the first company to embed programmable logic within the processor, today announced the opening this month of its first international subsidiary company. The new entity, Stretch KK, will be headquartered in Tokyo and will strengthen the company's sales and customer support presence in Japan and Asia. Stretch also announced that it will use the ESEC (Embedded Systems Expo and Conference), being held in Tokyo from July 7 to 9, 2004, to hold the first live demonstrations of its recently announced S5610 software-configurable processor and suite of development tools.

"Since the launch of our Stretch S5000 family of software-configurable processors to rave reviews in late April, we have been deluged with interest from embedded systems designers from across the globe," said Gary Banta, CEO and co-founder of Stretch. "The Japanese and Asian markets are clear innovators and leaders in compute-intensive embedded applications such as digital TV, prosumer A/V, digital imaging and digital printing, so the potential market for our groundbreaking processors is huge in Asia, particularly in Japan. We are very excited to be establishing a Stretch subsidiary in Tokyo, to provide our customers in Japan and Asia with the highest levels of support in designing their compute-intensive embedded applications with unprecedented speed, flexibility and ease."

Mike Rayfield, Stretch's vice president of sales and business development commented: "Japan will play an important role in Stretch's long-term success, and we see the establishment of our Japan subsidiary as a necessary step in building and maintaining strong customer relationships in this part of the world. Our knowledgeable, locally based team will provide sales, application support and training to our Japanese customer base and will establish a presence that we can use to foster relationships throughout the region."

Stretch's Japan subsidiary will be located at 16F, Shinjuku-Mitsui #2 Bldg., 3-2-11 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Japan 160-0023. The telephone number is +81-3-5339-6284, fax number is +81-3-5339-6285, and email: sales-japan@stretchinc.com.

First Product Demonstrations
In April of this year, Stretch introduced the S5000 software-configurable processor family, off-the-shelf processors that are the first to embed programmable logic entirely inside the processor architecture. By combining the performance of logic with C/C++ development simplicity, Stretch enables embedded system developers to achieve unprecedented performance, easy and rapid development, and significant cost savings.

In its Booth #6-2 at ESEC, Stretch will demonstrate its first off-the-shelf chip, the S5610, as well as its software development tools. The device will be running a video resize algorithm, a highly compute-intensive application programmed entirely though software. The S5610 processor is targeted at high-speed telecom, network and security applications and is expected to sample later this month. Stretch's development tools enable developers to configure and optimize the processor using only C/C++ code, thus significantly reducing the time, cost and market risk traditionally required for creating compute-intensive applications.

Additional members of the Stretch S5000 family will begin sampling and shipping in volume later this year.
