Stretch Introduces Video Development Platform Based On S5500 Software-Configurable Processor
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA. — September 12, 2005 — Stretch Inc., a pioneer and leader in software-configurable processor devices, today announced the S55VDP Video Development Platform based on the Stretch S5500 software-configurable processor. The S55VDP Video Development Platform provides an all-inclusive hardware and software development environment and enables embedded systems developers to quickly and easily evaluate Stretch's processor technology, develop, customize and accelerate a wide range of video applications. The S55VDP is based on Stretch's recently announced S5500 development board and a video module that supports multiple video input formats and configuration streams.
"Embedded system designers tackling compute-intensive video applications are in a real bind today," said Reynette Au, vice president of marketing at Stretch. "They need high compute performance, but cannot tolerate the long development cycles, risk, and high system costs associated with technologies traditionally used to obtain high performance. The S55VDP enables these developers to create compute-intensive video applications while greatly mitigating compromises in flexibility, performance, or time to market."
The Video Development Platform can accept a variety of video inputs, including NTSC/PAL composite and S-video, as well as HD component input, and supports HD component video output. The platform comes with a complete set of development tools including the Stretch Integrated Development Environment (IDE), BIOS, and software libraries as well as video demos including H.264 encoding and image resize. The S55VDP enables the evaluation of Stretch's technology and video application acceleration based on Stretch's video kernels or algorithms from Stretch's partners.
The resources provided on the S55VDP platform include the S5500 device, 256 MB DDR400 SDRAM SO-DIMM, 4 MB Flash, and 8 Kb EEPROMs. The platform also offers a variety of industry-standard peripherals, connectors, and interfaces, providing a rich feature set that spans a wide range of applications.
Pricing and Availability
The S55VDP is priced at $2,750 and includes a complete set of development tools. The S55VDP will be available from Stretch in 4Q05.
