Stretch Announces Scantec and Topas Sales Representatives

Pioneer in software-configurable processors extends sales channel in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; first training seminar for developers on October 18 in Offenbach, Germany

Bad Homburg v.d.H., 26 September 2005 – Stretch Inc., a pioneer and leader in software-configurable processor devices, today announced that it has extended its sales channel in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with an additional partner, the SCANTEC group. The SCANTEC group is formed by SCANTEC Microelectronic GmbH and TOPAS electronic GmbH. In addition to distribution services, the cooperation will encompass joint seminars for DSP software developers, system architects and engineering management. These tutorials demonstrate how to achieve outstanding results deploying Stretch's solutions for compute-intensive applications.

Both SCANTEC and TOPAS possess extensive market knowledge in the field of high-end semiconductors. Target applications for their solutions portfolio can be found in the areas of information technology, telecommunications, networks, security and automation technology.

"The Stretch S5000 processor family is a strategic addition to our solutions portfolio. At the same time, ever shorter time-to-market requirements open great opportunities for flexible and configurable solutions," states Sten Waldö, CEO of SCANTEC. "Stretch's software-configurable processors conceivably perform better and are easier to program than comparable CPUs."

Thomas Baumeister, General Manager Europe for Stretch, coordinates the channel business in Europe and manages the cooperation with SCANTEC and TOPAS. "Our partnership with SCANTEC and TOPAS is an important step for developing Stretch's great potential in the German-speaking countries," says Thomas Baumeister. As important factors for the decision to cooperate with the SCANTEC group, he mentions its outstanding technical support capabilities, its solutions orientated philosophy and its specific linecard, which holds promising synergies for Stretch's products. "Stretch's very high performance software-configurable processors are aimed at very advanced feature rich systems. Establishing technology into these markets require designated expert knowledge and we know that SCANTEC and TOPAS have this expertise. We believe their capability, matched with our technology will result in a powerful service and we are looking forward to serving many sophisticated customers who will benefit from our partnership."

Developers' Seminar
Stretch, SCANTEC and TOPAS are cooperating to provide technical support to their clients. Additionally, the partners will jointly stage developers' seminars and participate in trade shows. The seminars will be targeted at developers, system architects and engineering managers who will experience how to optimize compute-intensive applications; for example, in the fields of image processing and professional audio and video coding.

The first seminar is scheduled October 18th, 9:00am – 4:00pm, at the Novotel hotel in Offenbach, Germany. Participants will be introduced to the Stretch architecture and receive practical experience applying Stretch products to applications like H.264 video compression and WiMax wireless solutions. If you would like to participate at this seminar, please contact SCANTEC or TOPAS using the contact information below.
