The software defined architecture of the RDK gives OEMs the flexibility to change resolution, frame rates, and CODECs on a per stream basis, and to actively manage disk space to store the encoded streams. Its rich Application Programming Interface ensures easy compatibility with third-party software and fast time to market.
Containing four S6000 family software configurable processors, the DVR reference design is capable of encoding 16 streams of 30fps D1 resolution video in either H.264 or MJPEG, along with an accompanying audio stream encoded in G.711 or G.726. The design includes a de-interlacing pre-processor for compatibility with interlaced sources such as analog NTSC or PAL cameras. With the encoder's API, users can easily set regions of interest and criteria for scene change, blind, motion, and night detection, as well as video loss detection and alarm management. The API also controls the scaling and tiling required to configure the card's spot monitor output.
The reference design includes a host PC application and all drivers required to setup and manage the operation of the DVR RDK. The full reference version of the kit includes a distribution license for the Intelligent Encoder and the design files required to manufacture this production ready kit.
